Piaget’s Andy Warhol Camouflage watch turns the pop artist’s self-portraits into a stone and gold dial

Piaget has unveiled the Andy Warhol ‘Camouflage’, a limited edition watch with a gold and ornamental stone dial inspired by the artist’s 1986 self-portraits.

Only 86 will be made, a number which nods to the year of the artworks.

This is Piaget’s second collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. It follows the ‘Collage’ edition in 2025, which used pink opal, green chrysoprase and yellow serpentine.

Warhol’s link to the brand is genuine – he was a keen watch collector and owned at least seven Piaget models. One was the reference 15102, a 45mm cushion-cased watch designed by Jean-Claude Gueit and made from 1972 to 1977.

Piaget reinterpreted that design in 2014 as the Black Tie Vintage. In 2024 it gained a licence to use Warhol’s name. It can now make one Warhol-inspired watch a year.

The ‘Camouflage’ self-portraits explored the darker side of fame, with Warhol laying a camouflage pattern in deep, lively colours across his own face.

I like that Piaget didn’t just print the original artwork on the dial, instead it deconstructed the pattern and rebuilt it in materials.

The dial combines deep ocean blue sodalite and turquoise with satin-finished gold and shiny rose gold. There are 27 puzzle pieces in total.

More than 100 hours of labour went into designing, researching and crafting each dial.

This is how an artist collaboration should work – it’s real craft. The mix of cool stone and warm metal looks properly striking.

The case is the gadrooned cushion shape in white gold, with the ridged case acting as a frame for the dial.

Dauphine hands sit on top of the dial, and inside is the self-winding manufacture 501P1 movement.

On the caseback, Piaget engraves Warhol’s signature and the unique edition number.
