Nothing is teasing a screen-free device powered by AI that apparently needed to be a physical product rather than an app. The product will be announced next month, according to Nothing CEO Carl Pei.
In a post on X, Pei said the hardware will continue to carry the personality of the company’s phones and headphones.
He wrote: “Our first AI-native product ships next month. It’s a tool, but one built with the personality and care that have come to define a Nothing product. It has no new screen, and it couldn’t have been an app. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been building.”
The image that accompanies the post has the text Nothing (R), suggesting that’ll be product’s name. The teaser of the product itself looks like the outer bezel of a phone. However, we already know the product won’t have a screen.

So what are we talking about? Well, back in 2025, Pei revealed plans to build AI-native devices with an operating system to match. At the time, he referenced devices like smart glasses, electric vehicles, and humanoid robots. This isn’t one of those.
In the lengthy post that extols “intelligence” as the most important technology of our lifetime” he said that “the whole industry is hunting for its iPhone moment: the pendant, the pin, the glasses, the companion, some magical consumer device that makes AI part of everyone’s life. I admire the boldness, but I read this moment differently.”
So not a AI pin or a pendant?
He added: “Product-market fit for AI will come in productivity first, in the tools people rely on to get real things done, and that’s where the real opportunity is today. When the iPhone of AI does arrive in a few years, it will be built on that work.”
We’ll see what Nothing has in store next month.
