Lucky iPhone Duo buyers won’t have to wait long for Apple Pencil support

Apple will debut Apple Pencil support on iPhone Duo foldable phone from the launch of iOS 27.2, which is expected next week. That’s according to an analyst who has the functionality working on what appears to be a pre-release review unit

Creative Strategies analyst Max Weinbach says he has the release candidate for iOS 27.2 running on the iPhone Duo and Apple Pencil is working nicely.

Apple confirmed Apple Pencil support at the September 9 launch event, but only promised support would be coming in a future software update later this year. iOS 27.2 has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now with beta testers, but because the iPhone Duo hasn’t been available to test, no-one’s been able to take it for a spin so far.

Apple has said the Apple Pencil USB-C will work on both the outer and inner display of the iPhone Duo to take notes, sketch or mark up documents.

It could be fabulous news for artists who like to draw, paint and create art through apps like Procreate. That has been available on iPhone for a while now, but it’s possible we’ll see developers expand the availability of iPad-only apps too.

The iPhone Duo goes on sale this Friday. Pre-order supplies were exhausted within minutes. Apple has said it’ll have limited supplies in store this Friday, so you can pick up an Apple Pencil if you’re doing that.
