Samsung set to reveal Galaxy Z Fold Wide in London on July 22

Samsung planning to reveal the long-awaited foldable with a wider aspect ratio at a forthcoming Unpacked event in the UK on July 22, according to reports from Samsung’s Korean homeland.

The Korea Economic Times says Samsung has chosen London for the Unpacked event, as it continues with its roadshow for major foldable launches. Previous Flip/Fold launches have taken place in France and New York, for instance.

The report says the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be the headline maker, with this model seeing the first in the range to offer a ‘Wide’ variant that may be an effort to get ahead of Apple’s iPhone Fold (which may be called the iPhone Ultra) which is rumoured to have a similar, squarer aspect ration.

Significantly, the report (via 9to5Google) says Samsung is planning on bringing back the S Pen for the Z Fold 8 series. “Samsung plans to sequentially introduce the S Pen after unveiling the Wide Fold,” the machine translated report adds.

The report doesn’t mention the Z Flip range, which Samsung usually updates alongside the Z Fold phones. However, that doesn’t mean Samsung is planning to skip this year’s launches. The Galaxy Watch is also absent from the report, and they’ve been a fixture at the summer showcase for years now. The Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to be this year’s offering, plus an update to Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra.
