Sony has announced it is raising prices of the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition and PS5 Pro games consoles in key territories around the world and the increases are pretty significant.
In the UK, all three models are getting a £90 price increase. But if you act fast Argos is currently selling a PS5 Pro for £640. That’ll save you £150 overall on the price when it changes to £790 on April 2. In fact, all the prices are holding at their current level until April 2, so if you’ve been mulling a console purchase, now is the time.
In the United States, the standard editions are getting a $100 increase, while the PS5 Pro is getting bumped up a whopping $150 and now costs NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS. The company is also increasing the price of the PlayStation Portal Remote Play controller. It’s going up £20/$20 too.
Sony cites continuing global pressures. However, the PlayStation 5 has been on sale for six years now, and usually this has been the time when you start seeing price cuts.
In a blog post, the company says:
“With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we’ve made the decision to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player globally. We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide.”
