I’ve already found my next must-have gadget for summer

If you don’t have air conditioning, escaping the summer heat can be a nightmare. It’s a problem I face in the one week of decent weather we get in the UK. Open windows won’t do much if the weather’s heavy and your walls are built for chilly winters, and fans often only move around the warm air. Fortunately, I’ve found my next must-have for the summer.

At CES 2026, Dreo unveiled its TurboCool range of fans, which includes tower, desk, and outdoor options. These are misting fans, which blast out a very fine spray of water to cool your room down even more. Think of it as bridging the gap between a fan and full-on air conditioning.

These fans throw out ultra-fine mist particles, around 17 microns small. That means you’ll feel cooler without feeling damp. I tried it out to make sure I wasn’t going to get wet, and walked away dry as a bone. I even held up my iPhone screen to see if I could see any water droplets on the glass, and there were none. Compared to a regular fan, the difference is immediate. The cooling feels more like what you get from air conditioning, but with none of the dry skin or complicated set-up.

Leading the line-up is Dreo’s tower fan – a tall, sleek unit that’s designed to handle larger rooms. There’s also a smaller desk version that manages to stay out of the way while still making a real difference in close quarters, and an outdoor model that’s a must-have for any garden party. You can adjust the air direction, height, and speed through the accompanying remote or the Dreo app.

The remote also comes with MotionSync tech – a feature that lets you point the remote to where you want the fan to blow. It’s a little gimmicky, but could also be helpful if you’re fumbling around in the dark of night. Not every fan in the TurboCool range has the feature, so make sure you double-check if it’s something you want.

Dreo’s TurboCool series will be available to order in April. The compact desk fan will set you back $100, the outdoor fan comes in at $180, and the tower fan is $200.
